This quilt has a special meaning for me. I had never seen much of the Holy Family painted in black. Seeing the many icons and artifacts of the Holy Family that are as old as Christianity as Black has made me especially proud...The Madonna and Christ Child in this piece is loosely modeled on the Black Madonna of Czestochowa (Poland).

This piece was given to the late Rev. Celementa Pinckney in 2015. It then was borrowed back for a tour and he was murdered by a white supremacist in 2015 before it was returned to him.
